The current incarnation of Auckland's porous rock band Pumice is Jade Farley (Violin, Guitar, Keyboards) and Stefan Neville (Reed Organ, Synth, Guitar, Tapes). Lately the duo have been extending the circular melodies & breathing drones they stumbled upon on last years Platelets 7" (Soft Abuse Records) into a soft sonic stillness with distressed shanty interludes. WORLWIDE WELTS collects 5 recent live recordings.

"They seemingly know where each and every one will go music-wise even though they come across as if they kept the air free for improvisational expeditions. I really enjoyed these tracks as they made me calm down, a bit like a good dose of ketamine but without the awkward consequences and lots of room to still move around freely in. These space troubadours create fables without words and atmospheres even if you would spin it in the white painted isolation block of a lunatic asylum; they open the doors to wider landscapes that feels friendly and welcoming & oddly as if they had come from ancient times with enough knowledge of spirituality, time travels and human togetherness that it will almost make you bow down and accept them as your new leaders.

With them and their sounds you could be assured of obtaining world peace. Especially when they guide their sounds in to the drone zones, making it easy for anyone to sit back and throw away their self defence mechanisms in order to just chill out and relax in pure bliss. It’s not about who wouldn’t want that in their lives, but more a case of; everyone needs this in their life!"
