"Stefan Neville is a new Zealand musician I've been dealing with for a long time. His main recording project Pumice has been active for many years, as has the lathe label he's run for decades, Stabbies & The Rocket. I've never met the guy, but he seems like someone who likes to make things happen. For the last while he's been doing a weekly studio jam on Thursday afternoons at Māpura Studio in Auckland. I don't recognise the names of any of the players apart from Neville, but the music is strange and lovely. All of it is probably technically an extension of pop in one form or another, but it's a crazy blitz - from dubby babbling vocals bits to scratched out guitar circulations and many variations on outright weirdness. It's hard to figure if these folks are doing something they think is musical or just following an impulse they hope is musical or what. Hard to not dig." - Size Matters

"Guitars bring out vocals which then turn into these frequency type sounds. This all seems to come full circle though as the tapping of percussion seems to bring back the vocals and even a slight amount of guitar with it. This is a really experimental sound but it is also soft, minimal at its core. As this cassette has gone thus far it has not been in your face or anything like that. It could be a kind of noise, but it's a more mellow noise. Is ambient noise a genre? Can you experiment with sound while maintaining a weird relaxing quality to it as well?"
